This historical building, located near Union Square Park, is known as the Forbes Building. Issac & Stern Architects was commissioned to oversee a complete interior renovation of this townhouse and, with cooperation from the Landmark Commission, exterior refurbishment of the front façade as well as a complete rear façade and garden redesign. The building is 9,650 square feet and contains seven bedrooms, six bathrooms, and two powder rooms. In addition, a two-car garage is available at the ground level. Each element of the front elevation was carefully selected to match the original Late Greek Revival style from the turn of the 20th century. The rear elevation was completely refaced with a new brick veneer and a dramatic, 20-foot window into the Great Room, which faces the rear garden. The garden is 33 feet deep and has beautifully crafted masonry walls, planters, and an extensive bluestone patio.
